Claude W. Andrews

Sgt. Claude W. Andrews (1920-1944) was born in Sparta to Rev. Charlie Glen and Clara Mae Reeves Andrews. Claude served in WWII.

He entered the service in October 1941 and was sent to Ireland in December 1943 where he served as a radio operator in HQ Co, 1st the 13th Regiment, 8th Infantry Division.

In July 1944 he was sent to France where he was wounded in action and died on August 28, 1944, near Brest, in Brittany.

Sgt. Andrews was given a military funeral at Shiloh Methodist Church. He was buried in the Brittany American
Cemetery & Memorial at St. James, France. Plot G, Row 2,Grave 47.
